Jakarta, VIVA – The pet food industry in Indonesia is showing an increasingly promising growth trajectory. Rising numbers of pet owners, changing urban lifestyles, and greater awareness of animal nutrition are driving demand for quality products.

Amid the dominance of global brands, local players are beginning to take aggressive steps to expand their market share and strengthen distribution networks.

According to a report by Mordor Intelligence, Indonesia’s pet care industry is projected to reach US$1.83 billion by 2031, equivalent to approximately Rp30.7 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp16,800 per US dollar). This projection serves as a strong signal that the domestic market remains wide open, particularly for local producers capable of delivering innovative and competitive products.

The latest expansion move comes from PT Medela Potentia Tbk (MDLA). Through its subsidiary, PT Anugrah Argon Medica (AAM), the company has formally entered into a strategic partnership with PT Compawnion Jadi Berkat (Compawnion).

The collaboration forms part of a strategy to widen the distribution of quality pet food products across the country. The cooperation agreement was signed on 6 February 2026 by AAM President Director Juliwaty and Compawnion President Director Stephani Herman.

Through the partnership, AAM will distribute locally developed, science-based products — Pawmeals Dog Food and Catto Cat Food — to pet shop networks and modern retail outlets across Indonesia in a phased manner.

“We truly see that the vision and collaboration to deliver ideal pet products represents a step towards expanding market penetration and driving mutual growth,” said AAM President Director Juliwaty, as quoted from a press release on Monday, 23 February 2026.

From the producer’s side, Compawnion President Director Stephani Herman said the choice of AAM was grounded in a shared vision of delivering quality products at affordable prices. “Based on field research we conducted across various cities, AAM is known for having a strong reputation and consistent service standards,” she said.

“For that reason, we are confident that AAM is the right distribution partner to support our expansion in delivering biologically ideal pet nutrition in Indonesia, as well as bringing sustainable benefits to pet owners and retail partners,” Herman added.
