The parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, which includes the MPR, DPR, and DPD buildings, plans to implement controlled electricity reductions to support the government’s energy-saving efforts.

House Secretary General Indra Iskandar said the measure will be applied in all office and meeting rooms from 6:00 p.m. until morning, with monitoring carried out by officials assigned to the DPR buildings.

“The building working group will monitor electricity and air conditioning usage,” Iskandar said here on Friday.

He added that his office is also implementing fuel-saving measures for vehicles used by officials of the DPR Secretariat General, from echelon III to echelon I.

“We are focusing on ASN (state civil servants). Currently, their fuel allowance is being reduced by one day each week,” he said.

According to Iskandar, the savings policy will take effect on March 30, when all officials of the Secretariat General of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) are fully in place. However, the General Bureau of the DPR Secretariat General had already calculated the projected savings beforehand.

Earlier, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said the government is preparing strategies to maintain the country’s fiscal health, including reducing potential budget deficits through spending restraint and eliminating programs deemed low priority.

Through this strategy, the government hopes to keep the deficit under control while ensuring that the state budget is used more efficiently and effectively.

On March 20, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that President Prabowo Subianto instructed several of his ministers to target energy efficiency initiatives in specific sectors to ensure that energy-saving policies are effectively implemented.
