TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Mount Rinjani National Park Agency (TNGR) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has announced that the Torean and Senaru hiking trails remain temporarily closed due to ongoing efforts to manage a forest fire in the Bukit Setampol and Sangkareang Peak areas of Mount Rinjani, Lombok.
“The Senaru and Torean hiking trails remain temporarily closed for an indefinite period,” said Astekita Ardiarsito, Head of the Administration Sub-division at the TNGR Agency, in Mataram on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026.
He explained that hikers already holding e-tickets for the Senaru route could reschedule their trip or switch their entry and exit points to the Sembalun route until Senaru reopens.
“Hikers currently on the mountain who had intended to exit via Senaru or Torean are being directed to exit via Sembalun, in accordance with instructions from park officials,” he said.
He noted that the fire affecting the Senaru hiking trail and the Torean and Senaru resort areas resulted in a surface fire, fueled by mountain casuarina trees, thickets, shrubs, grasses, mountain savanna, dry leaf litter, and other undergrowth.
