Indonesia's Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to Build Two Integrated National Schools in Riau
Pekanbaru - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) of the Republic of Indonesia is building two Integrated National Schools in Riau Province, located in Pekanbaru City and Indragiri Hilir Regency (Inhil).
Riau Education Agency Head Erisman Yahya stated that the entire construction of these schools is funded by the state revenue and expenditure budget (APBN). The schools are open to the public with an flagship concept meeting international standards.
These schools, he continued, are designed to combine primary school, junior secondary school, and senior secondary school levels within one area with an integrated management system.
For the Pekanbaru location, it is planned to be in the Palembang Road area, Kulim Subdistrict. Meanwhile, the other school will be built in Indragiri Hilir Regency.
Local governments are requested to prepare land of at least 20 hectares for each location. The construction process is currently underway, with a team from Kemendikdasmen having directly visited Inhil to conduct location verification and validation (verval).
“The Kemendikdasmen side has already come to Inhil for verval. We hope the process goes smoothly,” he said.
The Riau Provincial Government hopes that the construction of both schools can begin soon this year. “Hopefully this year we can build two Integrated National Schools in Riau,” he expressed.
The presence of these schools, he added, is expected to improve the quality of education in Riau and expand public access to education with modern facilities and international standards within one integrated area.
