Indonesia's Iron and Steel Wire Exports in Tatters, Import Value Unexpected

Indonesia’s domestic iron and steel wire industry is under heavy pressure. Amid substantial production capacity, the sector is experiencing declines in the export market. Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza revealed that the national iron and steel wire industry is currently supported by around 21 producers operating with a total capacity of approximately 1,054,498 tonnes per year. The products produced include steel wire, galvanised steel wire, spiral wire, steel core, stainless steel wire, and PC wire,” he said during the Grand Opening of the Galvanised Iron Wire Factory in Subang on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
