Indonesia's Investment Surges in Q1 2026, Absorbing 706,000 Workers!

The government, through the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), recorded Indonesia’s investment realisation for the first three months of this year at Rp 498.8 trillion, equivalent to 24.4% of the annual target of Rp 2,041.3 trillion.

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Perkasa Roeslani confirmed that the Q1 2026 investment realisation has reached and slightly exceeded the set target.

“The investment target for the first trimester of 2026, alhamdulillah, has been achieved and slightly exceeded. Indeed, the 2026 target is Rp 2,431 trillion as planned by Bappenas for us,” said Rosan during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4).

He explained that on an annual or year-on-year (YoY) basis, investment realisation grew 7.2% compared to the same period last year, which was Rp 465.2 trillion.

Meanwhile, on a quarterly or quarter-to-quarter (QoQ) basis, investment realisation also recorded a slight growth of 0.4% from the previous quarter, which was Rp 496.9 trillion.

“And the investment realisation target of Rp 498.8 trillion, or an increase of approximately 7.2% YoY in Q1 2025,” he stated.

In addition, Rosan conveyed that the Q1 2026 investment realisation also succeeded in absorbing 706,569 workers, an increase of 18.9% compared to the same period last year.

“The most important thing is that 24.4% of the 2026 investment target, the most important is the labour absorption of 706,569 people or an 18.9% increase compared to before,” he added.

In terms of investment sources, Foreign Investment (PMA) still dominates with a contribution of 50.1% or Rp 250 trillion, growing 8.5% YoY.

Meanwhile, Domestic Investment (PMDN) contributes 49.9% or Rp 248.8 trillion, with 6% growth.
