Indonesia's Foreign Minister to Attend BRICS FMM in India
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono is scheduled to attend the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (BRICS FMM) to be held in New Delhi, India, on 14-15 May 2026.
“BRICS will also discuss cooperation among BRICS countries, particularly in the fields of sustainability and the digital economy,” said Sugiono, who was met after a joint press statement between Indonesia and Singapore in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), Yvonne Mewengkang, stated that the BRICS FMM will discuss global and regional issues, particularly related to strengthening resilience, resilience, and innovation.
According to Yvonne, Indonesia will emphasise its strong commitment to continue participating actively in BRICS.
“Indonesia will continue to encourage BRICS to play a more active and constructive role in promoting peace and upholding global norms in accordance with international law,” she said.
India will host the BRICS FMM on 14-15 May 2026, and the meeting will be chaired by India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.
The official website of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that, in addition to participating in the meeting, the BRICS foreign ministers and member delegations will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During the meeting, BRICS member foreign ministers will exchange views on global and regional issues of common interest.
On the second day, BRICS member countries and partners will participate in a session themed “BRICS@20: Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability,” followed by a session on “Reform of Global Governance and the Multilateral System.”
