Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s fiscal performance remains strong and has exceeded analysts’ predictions, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated here on Monday.

Sadewa stated that the government will officially release the April edition of the APBN KiTA (State Budget Performance and Facts) report at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday (May 19) and ensured that the report reflects the strong fundamentals of the national economy.

“What is important is that tomorrow there will be the APBN KiTA report up to April. The results are good and certainly beyond analysts’ expectations,” he remarked at the Presidential Palace Complex.

According to him, the government’s fiscal position has been well maintained despite global external pressures.

He also responded to criticism from several foreign parties who assessed that Indonesia’s fiscal condition was problematic.

Sadewa explained that the government’s economic development strategy does not rely solely on state spending but also encourages the private sector’s active role.

He stated that Indonesia’s economic growth of 5.61 percent in the first quarter of 2026 was the result of combined contributions from various economic sectors.

He assessed the economic growth achievement as an important accomplishment as it occurred during challenging global conditions.

“Our economic fundamentals are good. Our fiscal (condition) is good. Tomorrow I will hold a press conference on APBN KiTA, while some, including The Economist magazine, say our fiscal condition is a mess. No. We are doing very well, and they do not understand what we are doing,” he explained.

According to him, the economic reform policies implemented under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration before the emergence of global turmoil have become the main factor in maintaining economic stability.
