Indonesia's first GCI radar in Kalimantan can track objects up to 515 km

The sophistication of this advanced air defence radar was demonstrated directly by the Board of Directors of PT Len Industri (Persero) to the public during a working visit by PT Pemeringkat Efek Indonesia (Pefindo) to the site in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan. PT Len Industri has officially introduced the implementation of Indonesia’s first latest-generation Ground Control Interception (GCI) radar, installed in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, with long-range detection capabilities of up to a 515-kilometre radius. This advanced defence system, designed for high mobility (ISO Container 20 feet) and fast deployment, functions to strengthen strategic airspace surveillance and real-time control of national air defence operations. Behind the reliability and sophistication of this detection equipment lies the tactical collaboration of dozens of original PT Len Industri technicians from cross-disciplinary fields, including civil engineering, electrical, radio frequency (RF), networking, software, and mechanical expertise, from the initial installation phase through to final testing. In its tactical field operations, surveillance data from this GCI radar is directly connected and fully integrated into the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) command system, enabling rapid dissemination of information regarding sovereignty threats within the airspace of the Republic of Indonesia.
