Indonesia's Energy Resilience Index Rises to 7.13 in 2025

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The National Energy Council (DEN) has revealed that Indonesia’s energy resilience index increased in 2025, with the score rising from 6.74 in 2024 to 7.13, placing the country in the resilient category.

DEN member for the 2026-2030 period, Mohamad Fadhil Hasan, stated that the improvement indicates a better national energy resilience condition. “So in 2025, our energy resilience index is 7.13. And this has increased from the previous year, which was 6.74,” Fadhil said at the CNBC Indonesia Energy Forum in Jakarta, as quoted on Tuesday.

According to him, the energy resilience index is measured based on four main indicators: availability, accessibility, affordability, and sustainability. These indicators are then broken down into more quantitative parameters. Despite the improvement, Fadhil cautioned that this achievement will face challenges in 2026, particularly due to escalating global geopolitical tensions that could impact the energy sector.

However, he noted that various measures taken by the government, the House of Representatives, and PT Pertamina demonstrate a sharing of responsibility in maintaining national energy resilience. “One thing we must do going forward, as also reminded by the Minister earlier, is to diversify our energy sources,” he said.
