Indonesia's Defence Minister Partners with Kuwait for Military Cooperation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence is partnering with Kuwait to develop cooperation in the military sector, including strengthening strategic communication and defence. The official Instagram account of Sjafrie, @sjafrie.sjamsoeddin, stated on Thursday that this initiative took place when Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met with the Ambassador of Kuwait to Indonesia, H.E. Khalid Jassim Alyassin, at the Ministry of Defence office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (6/5). The meeting involved Sjafrie along with Khalid Jassim and his entourage. “I received a visit from the Ambassador of Kuwait to Indonesia, H.E. Khalid Jassim Alyassin, at the Ministry of Defence office in Jakarta to strengthen strategic communication and explore increased defence cooperation,” Sjafrie said. Sjafrie noted that Indonesia has had a long-standing relationship with Kuwait since 1968. This harmonious long-term relationship can serve as a strong foundation for both countries to establish military cooperation. “This friendship serves as an important foundation for expanding cooperation, including in the fields of military education, training, expertise exchange, and strengthening the defence capacities of both countries,” Sjafrie said. Sjafrie is optimistic that various types of military cooperation can be well implemented by Indonesia and Kuwait. With this meeting, Sjafrie hopes that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Kuwait can become even closer and warmer.
