Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has set the Coal Reference Price (HBA) for the second period of August 2026, with the average experiencing a slight increase.

This is stipulated in Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree Number 336.K/MB.01/MEM.B/2026 concerning the Reference Metal Mineral Price and Reference Coal Price for the Second Period of August 2026.

“The HBA for the Second Period of August 2026 as referred to in the SECOND Dictum is used as the basis for calculating the Coal Benchmark Price, hereinafter referred to as HPB, for the Second Period of August 2026,” the regulation states, as quoted on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

Compared with the HBA in the first period of August 2026, the HBA I, HBA II, and HBA III coal categories experienced increases. Meanwhile, the highest-calorie coal at 6,322 kcal/kg saw a slight decline.

The following is the list of HBA for the second period of August 2026:

First, the HBA with a calorific value equivalent of 6,322 kcal/kg GAR, Total Moisture 12.26%, Total Sulphur 0.66%, and Ash 7.94% is set at US$ 124.06 per tonne, down slightly from the first period of August 2026 of US$ 124.44 per tonne.

Second, HBA I with a calorific value equivalent of 5,300 kcal/kg GAR, total moisture 21.32%, sulphur 0.75%, and ash 6.04% for the first period of August 2026 is set at US$ 96.92 per tonne, up from the previous US$ 93.27 per tonne.

Third, HBA II with a calorific value equivalent of 4,100 kcal/kg GAR, total moisture 35.73%, sulphur 0.23%, and ash 3.9% for the first period of August 2026 is set at US$ 65.81 per tonne, up from the previous US$ 65.48 per tonne.

Fourth, HBA III with a calorific value equivalent of 3,400 kcal/kg GAR, total moisture 44.30%, sulphur 0.24%, and ash 3.88% for the second period of August 2026 is set at US$ 45.35 per tonne, up from the previous first period of US$ 45.27 per tonne.
