Pontianak (ANTARA) — Minister of Population and Family Development / Head of the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN RI) Wihaji stressed the importance of strengthening the role of the Family Companion Team (TPK) as the frontline in accelerating stunting reduction during a working visit to Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

“The synergy between the central government and regional authorities is the key to the success of the family development programme, including in efforts to accelerate stunting reduction,” Wihaji said during his working visit in Pontianak on Sunday.

He praised the collaboration that has been established between the Ministry of Population and Family Development and the West Kalimantan BKKBN provincial office and the local government in implementing the Bangga Kencana Programme.

“I appreciate the commitment of the staff of the West Kalimantan provincial Kemendukbangga in building integrity toward the predicate of a Corruption-Free Area (WBK), especially towards the Pontianak City Government,” he added.

At the same venue, Nur Yamin, Head of the West Kalimantan BKKBN Provincial Office, said the consolidation offers a strategic moment to strengthen coordination while increasing the capacity of TPK in programme implementation on the ground.

He emphasised that the TPK plays an important role in providing education, family mentoring, and ensuring the community receives health services, nutrition, as well as family planning.

“Through this consolidation, we want to ensure all Family Companions Teams are increasingly solid and share a common understanding in carrying out the Bangga Kencana Programme, particularly in supporting accelerated stunting reduction in West Kalimantan,” Nur Yamin said.

Separately, Pontianak Mayor Edi Rusdi Kamtono welcomed the minister’s working visit and noted that central government presence provides motivation for the regional government and field cadres working directly in communities.

‘We highly appreciate the minister’s direct attention to the implementation of the family development programme in the region. This is a stimulus for the Family Companion Team and all parties to improve the quality of life of families in Pontianak,’ he said.

He added that Pontianak City Government is committed to supporting the family development programme, population control, and the sustained improvement of community welfare.

Through this consolidation, it is expected that synergy among the central government, regional governments, and field cadres will become even more solid so that the Bangga Kencana Programme is more effective and has a real impact on improving the quality of families in West Kalimantan, particularly in Pontianak City.
