In a statement cited here on Wednesday, he explained that the move is in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s call for a sweeping overhaul of the national priority program, with a special focus on kitchens officially called nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPGs).

“On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, Mr. President conveyed a special message demanding that the BGN enhance the quality of governance and services of SPPGs. Those with underwhelming performances should be suspended for corrective measures,” he said.

Hindayana pointed out that the work unit serves to monitor the certification of all SPPGs nationwide, aiming to ensure compliance with government standards of food safety and quality.

Elaborating further, the BGN chief noted that the team would oversee the process to make sure every kitchen undergoes certification for hygiene and sanitation, the halal aspect, and the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).

“Once the three certificates have been obtained, we will proceed to personnel certification, covering cooks, food handlers, and environmental analysts,” he added.

He went on to explain that the layered certification process is designed to enable BGN to arrange a system of grading indicators for SPPGs as part of efforts to achieve continued improvements in the MBG program.

In this regard, Hindayana said his agency intends to form an internal SPPG classification team assigned to carry out grading works in pursuit of better governance of the program.

He also hinted at the possibility of the government establishing a national institution for such tasks, noting that the BGN team will function as a provisional supporting unit.
