Indonesia's B50 distribution reaches 80 percent nationwide

Distribution through Pertamina gas stations had reached 90 percent, Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation at the Ministry, Eniya Listiani Dewi, said on Monday.

Eniya made the remarks after a working meeting with House of Representatives Commission XII at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta.

“It’s between 75-80 percent for total distribution. But the distribution from Pertamina gas stations is already at 90 percent,” Eniya said.

According to Eniya, the ministry continues to monitor B50 distribution and will increase monitoring and evaluation to ensure the program is implemented carefully.

The ministry targets B50 distribution at all gas stations to reach 100 percent by Oct. 1, 2026.

“So, we will see in another month. We will continue to monitor it,” Eniya added.

Indonesia officially began implementing the mandatory B50 biodiesel in July 2026 as part of efforts to cut carbon emissions and strengthen national energy security.

Under the mandate, 50 percent of the diesel fuel blend must come from biodiesel, continuing Indonesia’s B30, B35, and B40 programs that have been implemented for more than a decade.

Indonesia is the first country in the world to implement a nationwide mandatory 50 percent biodiesel blend in diesel fuel, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The B50 program is estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 44.46 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2026, following the emissions reductions and foreign-exchange savings achieved through the B40 program in 2025.

The government also projects that B50 will save up to about Rp170 trillion in foreign exchange in 2026, increase the added value of crude palm oil (CPO), and support around 2.1 million jobs.
