Indonesians to leave Australia

CANBERRA, Australia: A number of Indonesians who have obtained Australian citizenship have expressed their intention to return home due to security fears.

Amin Hady, chairman of the Forum for the Study of Information and Islam, said in Sydney on Thursday the Indonesians were willing to give up their Australian citizenship because they felt frustrated and threatened by the Australian government's suspicion of them.

"They have become uneasy in the wake of raids by the Australian Security and Intelligence Office on the houses of Indonesians," he said.

An Indonesian national has reportedly been fired from his job simply because he was questioned by Australian security officers, Hady said.

"We don't want to live here in fear and under suspicion. We have never been involved in terrorism. Our loyalty to this country has been ignored," said Hady, one of the Indonesians whose home was raided. --Antara
