Indonesians Spend Over Rp393 Trillion in National Shopping Programme, Trade Minister Explains Significance
The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) recorded that the National Shopping programme throughout 2025 generated a transaction value reaching Rp393.79 trillion. The government assessed that this achievement reflects continued growth in public consumption and serves as a pillar for domestic economic activity.
Trade Minister (Mendag) Budi Santoso stated that the national shopping programme was implemented through cooperation with various business associations to boost public purchasing power. "The Ministry of Trade supports the 2025 National Shopping programme by cooperating with business associations to encourage an increase in public purchasing power," Budi said during a Working Meeting with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (16/7/2026).
He revealed that the total transactions recorded throughout the programme’s implementation reached nearly Rp400 trillion. "Throughout 2025, the total transaction value recorded from this programme was Rp393.79 trillion. This figure is certainly not just a statistic, but a real illustration that Indonesian public consumption is still growing in a continuously moving domestic market," he said.
In addition to encouraging consumption, the Ministry of Trade is also strengthening the empowerment of business actors, particularly MSMEs. "Throughout 2025, the Ministry of Trade has assisted and facilitated 38,356 MSMEs with three main focuses, namely increasing the competitiveness of 34,746 MSMEs," he explained.
He clarified that the assistance includes MSME digitalisation, certification, franchise mentoring, branding strengthening, and expanding market access through exhibitions and partnerships. Furthermore, the Ministry of Trade continues to campaign for the use of local products so that more MSMEs become hosts in the domestic market.
As is known, the government, through the Ministry of Trade together with a number of business associations, namely the Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Centre Tenants Association (HIPPINDO), the Indonesian Shopping Centre Management Association (APPBI), and the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (APRINDO), continues to encourage public consumption through various national shopping programmes. These programmes include Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA), packaged within the momentum of the Lebaran Discount and Holiday Sale, Friday Mubarak, National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas), and the Every Purchase Is Cheap (EPIC) Sale.
