Indonesian workers in Singapore

We were shocked by the report on the torture experienced by 14-year old Hartati, from Banyumas, Central Java, a migrant worker in Singapore,

Based on our experience in handling the case of the late Sutarmi Samin from Lampung, who died in Singapore, we would like to appeal to the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore to show political will and help the victim's family in its effort to obtain justice, provide them with accurate information, and accompany them in court.

The Indonesian Embassy in Singapore should play a role in handling cases concerning migrant domestic workers in Singapore by establishing a Maid Matters Service to help solve conflicts between the migrant workers and their employers or their agents in Singapore.

Such an active role would enable us to learn from past cases and protect Indonesian workers abroad.
