Indonesian Women Urged to View Technological Advancement as an Opportunity for Learning and Innovation

Commemorating its 7th anniversary, the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the DPD RI Secretariat General has urged women to view technological advancement as an opportunity for continuous growth. The call was made during a seminar themed ‘Growing Together in the Digital Era: Smart, Empowered, and Inspiring Women’, which emphasised the need to build women who are adaptive, possess integrity, and can utilise technology wisely. The event took place at the DPD RI lobby in the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, and was attended by DPD RI Secretary General Mohammad Iqbal, DWP Advisor Desy Tamsil Linrung, and other officials and staff.

Nindya M. Iqbal, Chairwoman of the DWP DPD RI Secretariat General, stated that women play a strategic role in facing digital transformation. She argued that technological developments should be seen as an opportunity to keep learning, innovate, and improve one’s quality of life, rather than as a threat. ‘As we enter our 7th year, it is hoped that DWP can continue to be a space for women to grow. Amidst rapid technological development, we must be able to adapt to continuously improve our abilities and utilise technology to strengthen the family economy,’ Nindya said. She also highlighted the need for wise use of technology, quoting Nobel Peace Prize laureate Christian Lous Lange: ‘Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master.’

DPD RI Secretary General Mohammad Iqbal added that the anniversary commemoration was not merely a ceremonial agenda but a momentum to strengthen DWP’s commitment to improving the quality of women and fostering togetherness within the DPD RI Secretariat General.
