Indonesian Woman Fatally Stabbed in Apartment in Japan

A 20-year-old Indonesian woman was reported dead after being stabbed in her apartment in Hamamatsu, central Japan, local police said on Monday. At the same time, local police are also investigating the suspected connection between the death of a man hit by a train near the scene and the murder. The victim, identified as Keiko Altaira Hanafi, was found in critical condition with stab wounds by a police officer at 11:40 a.m. local time. She was found in the apartment where she lived with her parents. Keiko was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital for treatment. According to the police, the victim’s neighbour made an emergency call after hearing the victim’s screams from the adjacent unit. They also reported seeing a man dressed in black leaving the apartment. Shortly afterwards, a man was killed after being struck by a train on the JR Tokaido line. The train driver reported previously seeing a man dressed in black jump over a fence and cross the tracks. The incident occurred in a residential area located 500 metres west of JR Maisaka train station in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. A witness in their 70s reported seeing a trail of blood droplets from the front door to the car park outside the apartment.
