Indonesian wins hotel award

JAKARTA (JP): Degan Septoadji, the executive chef of the Ritz- Carlton Bali, has become the first Indonesian hotelier to win a special commendation in the "Young Hotelier of the World", a program jointly created by the IH&RA and Hotels Magazine.

Ritz-Carlton Bali said yesterday that Septoadji received the recognition earlier this month at the International Hotel and Restaurant Association (IH&RA) congress in Amsterdam.

IH&RA's director of program development, Nicola Pogson, also one of the judges, said that Septoadji had obvious leadership credentials, commitment to employee development and growth, quest for continuous improvement and contributed to the community in which he operated. "He is an outstanding hospitality professional."

The "Young Hotelier of the World" program was created in 1992 to recognize outstanding achievement among hospitality professionals under the age of 30. The award honors one male and one female plus 10 special commended hoteliers annually. (icn)
