Indonesian Vice President Gibran attends Eid al-Adha prayer at Istiqlal Mosque with ministers

JAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka attended the Eid al-Adha prayer of 1447 AH at Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. He arrived at the mosque’s main hall at approximately 6:55 AM WIB, accompanied by Jan Ethes in matching green koko shirts and a black peci. Attendees included Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, and Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf. Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar previously announced that Ahmad Anshoruddin Ibrahim would lead the prayer, with the national service scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM WIB. The public is welcome to attend while adhering to order, comfort, and health protocols. Hamdan Juhannis, Rector of UIN Alauddin Makassar, delivered the sermon titled ‘Strengthening the Spirit of Sacrifice, Caring for the Environment and Humanity’. Nasaruddin also stated that the Istiqlal Mosque Eid al-Adha committee organised Takbir Gema on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, after Isha prayer, accessible in person on the upper floor or via YouTube.
