Indonesian Users Remain Dominant as AI Bots Begin to Overtake Global Internet Traffic
Humans are no longer the most frequent users on the internet, having been replaced by Artificial Intelligence. As technology evolves, bots and AI agents are increasingly dominating internet traffic. Data from website analysis tracking internet sources and traffic reveals that bot usage has reached 57.1%, while human users have decreased to 42.9%. This data covers a seven-day period from 1–7 June 2026.
Matthew Prince, CEO of Cloudflare, stated that the phenomenon of bot dominance on the internet is occurring faster than the previously anticipated 2027 timeline. “I thought it would happen by the end of 2027, then early 2027, but agent traffic is growing so rapidly that bots have surpassed human online traffic for the first time in internet history,” Prince noted in a post on X, as reported by Cnet.
In another post, Prince indicated that data from his company suggests this trend is unlikely to disappear. It is important to note that the bots in question are information-seeking systems that act on behalf of users when they pose questions to AI chatbots, subsequently displaying the results. Cnet explains that these searches and visits generate real traffic.
The collected data shows that more AI agents are visiting webpages than humans. However, Cloudflare’s data for Indonesia presents a different picture from the global trend. Between 1 June and 7 June 2026, human users in Indonesia still outnumbered bots. Human users accounted for 53.2% of Indonesian traffic, while bots accounted for 46.8%. This data suggests that a significant portion of internet users in Indonesia still access the web manually, with human users directly accessing and navigating websites rather than relying on AI bots.
