Moscow (ANTARA) – According to United States mediator Bishara Bahbah in negotiations with Hamas, Indonesian troops will be deployed to the southern part of Gaza Strip, whilst units from other nations will be responsible for other areas of the region.

The first contingent of troops forming part of the International Stabilisation Force is likely to be sent to Gaza Strip in early April, according to news portal Asharq Al-Awsat citing Bahbah.

“As far as I understand, the first contingent of troops as part of this force will enter Gaza in early April, and a larger contingent will be deployed next month,” said Bahbah on Thursday (26 February).

He also expressed hope that with the deployment of international contingents in Gaza, ceasefire violations by Israeli occupation forces will end.

Bahbah added that the newly formed National Committee for Gaza Administration will also be able to enter the territory after the stabilisation force arrives, as it will receive the necessary security guarantees.

The International Stabilisation Force is estimated to comprise approximately 20,000 military personnel and 12,000 police officers from countries participating in the Gaza Board of Peace.

Rafah city in southern Gaza Strip is mentioned as a potential initial location for deployment of the mission.
