Indonesian trainee dies after being trapped in machinery in Hiroshima

Tokyo (ANTARA) - An Indonesian technical trainee has died after becoming trapped in a mixing machine while working at a factory in Hiroshima Prefecture, western Japan, on Wednesday night, according to local authorities.

An emergency call was received at approximately 10:20 pm local time reporting that a man was bleeding after his neck became caught inside a mixer at a factory owned by chemical and material manufacturer Toda Kogyo Corp. in Otake City.

Local police have since identified the man as Indra Kurniawan, aged 21.

According to the police, Kurniawan was working alone during the paint production process at the time of the incident. It was noted that the mixing machine has a diameter and depth of approximately 1.5 metres each.

Police are still investigating the chronology and cause of the accident, which includes reviewing CCTV footage from the site. Authorities stated that there were no eyewitnesses to the incident.
