Indonesian Toll Road Association Apologises for Ongoing Obstacles in Eid Exodus Traffic Flow

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Toll Road Association (ATI) has expressed apologies to the public for the ongoing obstacles in the Eid exodus and return traffic flow in 2026. ATI Secretary General Kris Ade Sudiyono acknowledged the issues, particularly traffic jams on several toll road sections. “We apologise to the public who are still experiencing disruptions and congestion on the toll roads,” said Kris Ade to Kompas.com on Thursday (02/04/2026). Kris emphasised that the apology comes with a commitment to conduct evaluations, mitigations, and future improvements. He also recognised that several aspects still need enhancement through the involvement of all stakeholders, both on the ground and through concrete policies. “We apologise for the conditions and the continued occurrence of these phenomena during the handling of the Eid exodus and return traffic,” he stated. Despite the various obstacles, Kris extended appreciation to the public, who he deemed to have played an active role in maintaining the smooth flow of the exodus and return. He stressed that public participation is a key factor in supporting traffic management during the Eid period. “The management of the 1447H Eid exodus and return traffic, which has generally proceeded well, is inseparable from the massive public participation in planning, following, and applying better transportation culture and etiquette in utilising infrastructure,” he said. Kris also appreciated the role of the government and various ministries and agencies that have coordinated in traffic engineering arrangements. He assessed that the state’s presence in public communication has helped alleviate vehicle density. In addition, appreciation was given to Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) that have prepared infrastructure capacity and quality, as well as supported the implementation of traffic engineering on the ground. Kris affirmed that ATI will use this year’s exodus and return experience as material for evaluation to enhance service quality in the future. He mentioned that improvements will focus on increasing capacity, quality, and infrastructure connectivity. He added that improvement efforts will continue sustainably through cross-sector coordination. This aims to ensure that the implementation of exodus and return traffic in subsequent years runs more smoothly and provides better comfort for the public.
