Indonesian Task Force Halts Snapboost's Illegal Investment Scheme

The Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Satgas PASTI) has ceased the operations of an entity named Snapboost, which was suspected of running a fraudulent scheme by offering illegal investments. Snapboost claimed to be a social media monetisation platform, using a Click to Earn (C2E) system where participants were promised income for completing tasks such as liking and sharing content on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. The platform allegedly required members to make a deposit in order to work on these tasks. Furthermore, it promised daily income, bonuses based on membership tiers, commissions for recruiting new members, and prizes including motorcycles and cars for those depositing certain amounts. Following an investigation, Satgas PASTI found that Snapboost did not possess a legal entity or business licence in Indonesia, and its application and website were not registered as an Electronic System Operator (PSE) with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs. The task force also discovered indications that the operators periodically changed the URL addresses using different names while maintaining the same appearance, features, and operational mechanisms, suggesting the various sites were interconnected. To prevent public losses, Satgas PASTI has halted the activities and is proceeding to block access to the related applications and links. The task force is coordinating with law enforcement officials for further legal proceedings. Members of the public who have suffered losses are urged to report to local law enforcement to expedite the handling process. Satgas PASTI reiterated its warning for the public to exercise caution regarding investment offers and financial activities that promise unrealistically high returns in a short period, particularly those requiring upfront deposits and operating through sites or applications that frequently change addresses while maintaining similar interfaces and mechanisms.
