Jakarta (ANTARA) — Indonesian students in Tunisia are introducing Nusantara culture during an iftar gathering with international students from various countries. The event, named ‘Iftar Jamii Tuwaliyyin’, was organised by Diwan al-Khidmah al-Jami’iyyah li Syamal on 5 March in the Menzah 6 area of Tunisia and was attended by hundreds of students. According to a press release from the Indonesian Students Association in Tunisia (PPI Tunisia) received in Jakarta on Saturday (7/3), six Indonesian students participated in the cross-cultural programme. They were Muhammad Dakhlan Gazali, Anggun Dahlia Alia Murohimah, Sultan Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Mohammad Galih Kurniawan, Keysya Atsila Aqib, and Radina Hasna Maritza. The event began with breaking fast together followed by introductions and informal discussions about academic experiences and student life in Tunisia. In the cultural performances segment, delegations from various countries presented a range of arts, from music to vocals. The Indonesian students introduced Nusantara culture by wearing batik clothing and songkok, and performing the song ‘Tabola Bale’ from eastern Indonesia. The representative from Indonesia, Muhammad Dakhlan Gazali, said the participation was an opportunity to introduce Indonesian culture to students from different countries. ‘We are proud to wear traditional attire and introduce Indonesian culture to friends from various countries,’ he said. One participant from Tunisia, Khadijah, said she was impressed with Indonesian culture, noting that Indonesians are known for friendly and ethical values. PPI Tunisia described the activity as an important space for international students to strengthen relations while also introducing each country’s rich culture.
