Country Manager & President Director of Allianz Life Indonesia, Alexander Grenz, revealed that 2025 was a period full of dynamics for both the global and national economies. This situation ultimately had a specific impact on the performance of instruments related to the capital market.

“Since the beginning of the year, the market has faced increasing uncertainty due to economic pressures and policy changes in several major countries, particularly the United States (US). Entering the second half, several indicators began to show improvement,” said Alexander Grenz, quoted from his statement on Thursday, 14 May 2026.

That, he continued, particularly the reduction in US trade tariffs against several countries, including Indonesia, helped ease trade war tensions and restore market participants’ optimism. In addition, the US central bank, the Federal Reserve, implemented three interest rate cuts throughout 2025.

“This also influenced global financial market movements. Amid these global conditions, Indonesia’s economy showed solid resilience,” he stated.

He noted that Indonesia’s economic growth reached 5.11 per cent in 2025, slightly higher than 2024’s 5.03 per cent growth. Meanwhile, the Indonesian stock market also moved positively throughout the year, marked by index strengthening and an increase in the number of local investors.

“Although not all sectors experienced uniform increases. Public interest in investment continues to rise, reflecting confidence in long-term economic prospects,” he said.

“In line with MSCI’s focus in 2026 on market transparency and governance practices, we see various improvement efforts that are currently and will continue to be initiated by regulators as positive developments believed to further strengthen the long-term prospects of Indonesia’s capital market,” he concluded.
