Indonesian Stock Investors Rise, Stockbit Warns of Cyberattack Risks
Stockbit, a stock investment application, has assessed that the surge in the number of stock investors in Indonesia, which reached 9.73 million as of May 2026, requires a robust digital security system to prevent the risk of cyberattacks. According to data from the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI), the number of stock investors reached 9.73 million at the end of May 2026. This figure has increased significantly compared to 5.2 million investors at the end of 2023 and 6.3 million investors at the end of 2024. Nearly 80% of current stock investors are under 40 years old. As the number of investors grows, account security becomes an increasingly important aspect of digital investment activity. Stockbit has strengthened its protection system through 3-Factor Authentication (3FA) technology, which consists of Face Recognition, Trusted Device, and Freeze Account. Stockbit’s Head of PR & Corporate Communication, William, stated that the system is designed to ensure only the account owner can access and conduct transactions on their investment account. ‘The 3-Factor Authentication system is designed to provide maximum protection for user accounts through three strict layers of verification. In addition, Stockbit also has a Cybersecurity team on standby 24/7,’ William said in a statement on Friday (26/6/2026). He explained that the Face Recognition feature serves as an additional authentication layer to verify user identity before accessing an account or making transactions. Users will also receive a notification if an unauthorised login attempt is detected. Furthermore, the Trusted Device feature automatically rejects any login attempt from an unrecognised device. A Multiple Verification system is also applied to provide additional verification for every important activity within the account, thereby minimising the risk of misuse. Stockbit also provides a Freeze Account feature that allows investors to temporarily freeze their account if they detect suspicious activity. In addition to strengthening security aspects, Stockbit continues to develop data-based investment support features. One such feature is the launch of Stockbit AI Reports, which summarise company disclosures into concise analyses, making it easier for investors to understand important information more quickly. William said the application is designed to meet the needs of both beginner and experienced investors who require security, fast transaction execution, and real-time market data. ‘Investors should invest smartly by not only focusing on ease of use of the application, but also ensuring a strong and trusted security system,’ he said.
