Indonesian Stock Exchange Closed for Holiday Period, 18-24 March 2026
Jakarta — The Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) will enter an extended holiday period this week in conjunction with several national religious observances falling in March 2026.
During this period, stock trading activity in the Indonesian capital market will not take place due to national public holidays and joint leave mandated by the government.
This week features two major national religious holidays: the sacred day of Nyepi for the Saka New Year 1948 and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
The sacred day of Nyepi is observed on Thursday, 19 March 2026. Meanwhile, the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah falls on Saturday and Sunday, 21-22 March 2026.
In conjunction with the celebration of these two major holidays, the government has also set several joint leave days, which are also observed by the Indonesian Stock Exchange.
The closure schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, 18 March 2026: Joint leave for the sacred day of Nyepi, Saka New Year 1948
Thursday, 19 March 2026: Sacred day of Nyepi, Saka New Year 1948
Friday, 20 March 2026: Joint leave for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah
Monday, 23 March 2026: Joint leave for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah
Tuesday, 24 March 2026: Joint leave for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah
It should be noted that Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah falls on 21 March 2026 and 22 March 2026. These two dates are not listed in the stock exchange closure calendar because they coincide with Saturday and Sunday, meaning the capital market does not operate during the weekend anyway.
In addition to the schedule already set, the exchange closure could potentially change if clearing activities are suspended by Bank Indonesia or if there is an additional announcement from the government regarding national holidays.
For this reason, investors are advised to pay attention to the stock exchange closure schedule so they can arrange their transaction strategies and investment activities before the extended holiday period begins.
