Jakarta — The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) through the Trade Attaché (Atdag) of the Republic of Indonesia in London reported that nine Indonesian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) recorded potential transactions of 640,750 US dollars or approximately Rp10.76 billion at the Spring Fair 2026 in the United Kingdom.

Atdag RI London Ayu Siti Maryam stated in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday that this achievement was the result of business matching and follow-up activities by the Atdag in London following the fair.

According to her, the products attracting UK buyers include home decoration, fashion and lifestyle items.

“The positive response from UK buyers towards Indonesian products, particularly in the home decoration, fashion and lifestyle sectors, demonstrates the added value in design, quality and sustainability principles as competitive differentiating factors,” said Ayu.

The achievement at this fair reflects the UK as a promising potential market for Indonesian creative products. For example, in the textiles sector, the UK currently ranks 15th as a destination for Indonesian exports with a market share of approximately 1.66 per cent.

This position indicates the UK holds significant potential for export growth. Indonesia’s participation in the fair also represents a valuable opportunity to implement promotional strategies and expand export markets for women-led SMEs to the UK.

“We are optimistic that targeted promotional strategies, multi-stakeholder collaboration and strengthening the role of women-led SMEs will enable Indonesia to expand its market share in the UK,” said Ayu.

Ayu added that the transaction potential will continue to be followed up through business-to-business (B2B) meetings between SME operators and potential partners to ensure trading contracts are realised.

In 2025, total Indonesia-UK trade reached 2.67 billion US dollars. Indonesian exports to the UK totalled 1.6 billion US dollars, while Indonesian imports from the UK amounted to 1.07 billion US dollars.

Consequently, Indonesia recorded a surplus of 529.82 million US dollars. Indonesia’s main exports to the UK include footwear, machinery and electrical equipment, wood and wood products, non-knitted finished garments, and mechanical machinery and equipment.
