The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has officially established the Indonesian Reference Coal Price (HBA) for the first period of June 2026. All coal categories have shown a price increase compared to the second period of May 2026.

This policy is stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of ESDM Number 227 of 2026 regarding the Reference Metal Mineral Price and the Reference Coal Price for the first period of June 2026. Under this regulation, the government categorises the HBA into four distinct groups. When compared to the HBA from the second period of May 202lar, all four categories experienced price hikes in the first period of June 2026.

β€œFor the coal commodity, there appears to be price strengthening across all calorific values, following the movement of supply and demand in the international market,” stated the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of ESDM via their official Instagram account.

The list of HBA for the first period of June 2026 is as follows:

First, the HBA with a calorific value equivalent to 6,322 kcal/kg GAR, Total Moisture 12.26%, Total Sulphur 0.66%, and Ash 7.94% is set at US$ 121.83 per tonne. This figure represents an increase from the HBA in the second period of May 2026, which was US$ 116.32 per tonne.

Second, HBA I with a calorific value equivalent to 5,300 kcal/kg GAR, total moisture 21.32%, sulphur 0.75%, and ash 6.04% for the first period of June 2026 is set at US$ 84.53 per tonne. This is an increase from the price in the second period of May 2026, which stood at US$ 80.34 per tonne.

Third, HBA II with a calorific value equivalent to 4,100 kcal/kg GAR, total moisture 35.73%, sulphur 0.23%, and ash 3.9% for the first period of June 2026 is US$ 58.81 per tonne. This is an increase compared to the HBA in the second period of May 2026, which was at the level of US$ 57.61 per tonne.

Fourth, HBA III with a calorific value equivalent to 3,400 kcal/kg GAR, total moisture 44.30%, sulphur 0.24%, and ash 3.88% for the first period of June 2026 is set at US$ 40.32 per tonne. This is an increase compared to the second period of May 2026, which was at the level of US$ 39.35 per tonne.
