JAKARTA — The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jakarta Central is preparing two emergency tents to shelter residents affected by a fire in the Pasar Jiung area, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

PMI Jakarta Central Chairman Asep Djuanda stated that the tents would be dispatched to the evacuation site located at Jusuf Hamka Field, Benyamin Suaeb Street.

“We are preparing two tents that will arrive shortly to accommodate the evacuees,” Asep said when met at the evacuation site on Tuesday (2 June 2026) in the early morning.

This measure is being taken to provide emergency assistance whilst monitoring the health condition of those affected by the fire.

To meet the logistical needs of evacuees, PMI continues to coordinate with the Jakarta Provincial Social Services Department.

Regarding post-disaster trauma management, particularly for children, PMI is currently prioritising the emergency response phase.

“Regarding trauma recovery, we have procedures for evacuation and recovery. At the moment, we are still coordinating with the provincial PMI and focusing on emergency response measures,” Asep explained.

The fire broke out in the densely populated Kampung Pasar Haji Jiung area, Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Monday (1 June 2026) evening at approximately 20:55 WIB.

In firefighting efforts, the Jakarta Disaster Management Agency deployed 35 fire trucks and 165 personnel.

According to preliminary data displayed at the incident location information board, approximately 250 homes and 330 households were affected by the fire.

As of Tuesday early morning, officials continued firefighting and cooling operations at the incident site.
