Jakarta — The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) DKI Jakarta distributed 331 assistance packages to vulnerable groups comprising orphans, elderly individuals, the poor (dhuafa), and retired staff as part of efforts to share happiness amongst them.
“I wish to express appreciation and gratitude to all parties who have supported this effort,” said Beky Mardani, Chairman of PMI DKI Jakarta Province, in Jakarta on Monday.
According to him, PMI DKI distributed 331 assistance packages to mustahik (those deserving of assistance) comprising orphans, elderly individuals, the poor, and retired staff.
Additionally, PMI chapters at the city level throughout DKI Jakarta also carried out assistance distribution activities with a total of 7,559 packages distributed across various areas.
He stated that the distribution of assistance in East Jakarta totalled 2,100 packages, West Jakarta (2,000), Central Jakarta (1,828), South Jakarta (1,000), and North Jakarta 200 packages.
Beyond this activity, PMI continued efforts to maintain blood stock availability during Ramadan. To this end, PMI implemented a Ramadan Blood Donation campaign through the Bara Bentala Mobile Unit Programme at the Office of the Mayor of West Jakarta on 9-13 March 2026. From this activity, 5,227 individuals registered as prospective blood donors and following health screening, 4,037 individuals successfully donated blood.
“PMI extends appreciation to all members of the community who have participated as blood donors. Every drop of blood given is very meaningful for patients in need at hospitals,” he said.
As a form of appreciation to donors and efforts to maintain blood stock availability, PMI also prepared 5,000 packages of basic food items for Eid al-Fitr to be distributed to blood donors on 18-27 March 2026.
