Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has donated a sacrificial cow for the people of Simeulue Regency for the 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE Idul Adha, weighing over one tonne (1,020kg).

Syuhelmi, Head of the Plantation, Livestock and Animal Health Department of Simeulue Regency, stated on Sunday in Simeulue that the President’s sacrificial cow was transported from Gampong Berneut in Seulimeum District, Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh Province.

He said the animal was in good health, under guard and care by officials, and housed in a dedicated area at the Tgk Khalilullah Mosque complex in Simeulue.

Syuhelmi added that after being slaughtered by the appointed committee, the meat would be distributed to eligible community members.

“This sacrificial animal donation is part of the central government’s effort to support community needs ahead of religious celebrations, while also promoting local breeders’ role in supplying quality sacrificial animals,” Syuhelmi said.

Simeulue Regency is the outermost island region of Aceh Province. Simeulue Island lies in the Indian Ocean, approximately 180 nautical miles off Sumatra’s western coast.

Simeulue Regency was established as a separate administrative region from West Aceh Regency in 1999. It comprises 10 districts and 138 villages, home to around 96,000 residents.
