Indonesian Preachers' Council Holds Social Action in Response to Rising Food Prices
Rising food prices triggered by global turmoil have prompted various societal elements to undertake solidarity actions. The Majelis Muballighin Indonesia (MMI) has organised simultaneous sharing movements in several areas to aid affected communities.
MMI General Chairman KH Mujib Khudori stated that the unstable global situation impacts people’s lives, including spikes in essential commodity prices. “I am mobilising all officials, from central to regional and local levels, to conduct social sharing activities for nearby communities,” said Kiai Mujib in his statement in Jakarta on Friday (24/4/2026).
The central-level social service event took place on Tuesday night (21/4/2026) at Pondok Pesantren Tajul Qur’an Markazona, Buaran 2, East Jakarta, where 105 residents received assistance. Similar actions were carried out by regional and local officials on Friday (24/4/2026).
Kiai Mujib emphasised that this sharing movement is part of implementing Islamic teachings. “There is no good in much of their secret conferences, except for that of the one who enjoins to give alms or to do good or to reconcile between people. And whoever does that seeking Allah’s pleasure – We will give him a great reward (Surah An-Nisa verse 114),” said Kiai Mujib.
In addition to social actions, Kiai Mujib has instructed all MMI officials to maintain national unity and urge the public to safeguard and monitor the government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka until the end of their term.
“I have instructed all officials to preserve national unity and convey to the public to protect and oversee the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka until the completion of their tenure,” said Kiai Mujib.
Kiai Mujib also called on the public to pray for the leaders to be granted strength and health in fulfilling their mandates. “Let us pray for them to be given strength, resilience, and health so they can serve the interests of the people, nation, and state as best as possible,” said Kiai Mujib.
He added that MMI’s affiliate organisation, Santri Muda Nusantara (SAMUDRA), led by Ustaz Sukarya Putra, will also carry out similar activities. “The beauty of sharing, the beauty of peace, the beauty of unity,” said Kiai Mujib.
