Indonesian Police Traffic Corps to Escort Thousands of Workers to Jakarta for May Day 2026

The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has assured readiness for securing and escorting the movement of thousands of workers from various regions, particularly West Java, to Jakarta for the International Labour Day (May Day) 2026 commemoration.

Head of Korlantas Polri, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, stated that preparations were conducted through a coordination meeting with regional police units in Cibadak, Sukabumi Police Resort.

The meeting was attended by representatives from police resort chiefs, traffic directors, and operations section heads.

“We are currently in the West Java Police Region, specifically in Cibadak, Sukabumi Police Resort. We are holding a coordination meeting to prepare for the Labour Day security,” Agus said in his statement on Thursday (30/4/2026).

All movements have been mapped out and will receive strict escorting by officers.

To facilitate on-site supervision, Korlantas is also implementing a vehicle marking system using colour-coded stickers based on the origin region.

West Java will use blue stickers, Central Java yellow, East Java red, and Banten green.

“This is to make escorting in the field easier,” he said.

Additionally, coordination has been carried out with Jasa Marga to ensure smooth traffic flow during the departure process until arrival at the destination in Jakarta.

They come from various labour unions, including SPSI with 1,550 people on 31 buses and KSBSI with 850 people on 17 buses.

Then, around 350 workers from the DPC SPN will head to the Danantara area using 6 buses.

Meanwhile, other groups are recorded at 2,000 people with 40 buses.

The mass gathering points are spread across several locations, such as the Cigombong Toll Exit, Parungkuda Toll Exit, and several company areas in Sukabumi.
