The Indonesian National Police’s Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG Polri) in Pejaten served the MBG menu in a buffet style at SMA Kemala Bhayangkari 1, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. This step was taken as an innovative breakthrough in service delivery.

The buffet-style serving of the MBG menu took place on Wednesday (22/4/2026) at 09.30 WIB. The activity was provided to 336 students and is still in the simulation phase of implementation.

The MBG menu served included white rice, crispy catfish, yellow-spiced tofu, stir-fried green beans and carrots, and bananas, arranged by nutrition experts to ensure nutritional balance for the students.

Out of a total of nine beneficiary schools, the buffet system is currently being implemented in one school, namely SMA Kemala Bhayangkari. Meanwhile, the total MBG beneficiaries from SPPG Polri Pejaten reach 2,606 portions, distributed across various educational levels.

The Head of SPPG Polri Pejaten, Muhammad Iqbal Salim, stated that the buffet pattern is part of a broader learning approach.

“Through this system, students not only receive food but also learn about discipline, responsibility, and building togetherness through queuing culture and taking portions according to their needs,” said Iqbal in his statement on Thursday (23/4).

The MBG Polri Task Force Commander, Inspector General Nurworo Danang, emphasised that this approach is part of an innovation in services that directly impacts the beneficiaries.

“We are implementing the buffet-style MBG serving as an innovative breakthrough in more dynamic food distribution to students. It not only provides nutritional intake but also presents a different experience that builds togetherness, responsibility, patience, and discipline. We also encourage active participation and increase students’ enthusiasm in consuming healthy food,” he explained.

He added that education is an important part of the MBG programme.

“Providing the MBG menu to students is not just about fulfilling nutrition but also part of the education process to instil positive values in daily life,” he further stated.

One student from SMA Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Pasar Minggu welcomed the buffet-style MBG serving.

“I like it because the food is fresher this way,” she said.

Nevertheless, she also shared her experience with queuing as part of the system.

“I like it, but it takes longer. If it’s delivered directly, I can eat right away, but this requires queuing first,” she added.

In its implementation, the activity still prioritises food safety standards through organoleptic testing by nutrition experts and food safety testing by the Dokpol team. An orderly queuing system is applied to ensure smooth distribution while training students’ discipline.

In addition, SPPG Polri involves SMEs and local food ingredients in providing food materials as a form of support for the community economy.

The Polri MBG programme itself continues to develop. Currently, there are 661 operational units, 170 in the operational preparation stage, and 502 in the construction stage, totalling 1,333 units, with plans to add 170 units in remote areas to reach a total of 1,503 units.

In the future, the evaluation results from this implementation will serve as the basis for developing a more adaptive and widely impactful MBG service pattern, both in terms of nutritional fulfilment and character building for the younger generation.

SPPG Polri reaffirms its commitment to continue delivering services that not only meet the basic needs of the community but also provide added value through educational and humanistic approaches.
