Indonesian Pharmaceutical and Health Products Secure Potential Transactions Worth Rp34 Billion in Taiwan
Indonesian health products successfully attracted the interest of prospective importers from Taiwan, recording potential transactions worth USD 2 million, equivalent to Rp34 billion. This achievement was made during participation in the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) Asia-Taiwan 2026 exhibition at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Taipei, Taiwan, from 16-19 July 2026. At this exhibition, Indonesian businesses opened wider opportunities for biotechnology and health products to enter the Taiwanese market while expanding networks with global industry players. Arif Sulistiyo, Head of the Indonesian Trade and Economic Office (KDEI) in Taipei, stated that Indonesia’s participation was a strategic step to promote products, introduce the capacity of the national pharmaceutical industry, and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global health industry supply chain. Indonesia also has an increasing opportunity to encourage research collaboration, innovation, investment, and technology transfer. “Taiwan is one of the leading pharmaceutical and health industry development centres in Asia. Indonesia’s presence at BIO Asia-Taiwan 2026 opens up market access and collaboration opportunities and strengthens networks with global industry players. We are optimistic that Indonesian pharmaceutical and health products have the quality and competitiveness to become part of the global pharmaceutical and health industry supply chain,” said Arif. The Ministry of Trade, through KDEI Taipei, brought seven Indonesian companies engaged in pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical raw materials, health laboratory services, and medical devices. These companies are PT Top Rawyale Indonesia, PT Shirudo Lab Berkat Abadi, PT Kalbe Genexine Biologics, PT Indoniaga Makmur Sejahtera, PT Gebang Surya Harapan, PT Konimex, and PT Pharma Metric Lab. Arif expressed hope that the successful participation in BIO Asia-Taiwan 2026 would be a momentum to strengthen the promotion and competitiveness of national biotechnology and health products in the global market. “Through synergy between the government and business actors, we are optimistic that Indonesia can continue to expand export market access, increase trade value, and strengthen international cooperation in the bio-industry and health sector,” he said. Exhibition participants received high appreciation from visitors, particularly for biotechnology-based raw materials, herbal extracts, pharmaceutical products, other natural health products, and health laboratory services. Vonny Willianty, Head of Business Development & Licensing at PT Kalbe Genexine Biologics, said that participating in BIO Asia-Taiwan 2026 provided an opportunity to expand business networks. “Through BIO Asia-Taiwan, we were able to meet new potential business partners who were previously beyond our reach. This opens up greater opportunities to expand the market and explore business cooperation in Taiwan,” said Vonny. BIO Asia-Taiwan 2026 was organised by the Taiwan Biotechnology Industry Organization (Taiwan BIO) together with the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO). The theme was ‘Asian Inspiration, Global Impact’. The exhibition featured participants from more than 20 countries with around 2,200 booths. With a target of over 10,000 business matchings, the exhibition is one of the most strategic platforms in Asia to drive collaboration, investment, innovation, and commercialisation in the biotechnology and health sector.
