Indonesian Parliament Appreciates Completion of Indramayu Hajj Dormitory Construction
The completion of the Hajj dormitory construction in Indramayu Regency marks a momentum for Hajj service reform. Member of Commission VIII of the DPR RI from the PDI Perjuangan faction, Selly Andriany Gantina, is pushing for readiness in services and accountable and humane Hajj governance. “In addition to appreciating the completion of the Hajj Dormitory construction, I hope this becomes a reform in improving the implementation of Hajj worship services,” she stated on Thursday (2/4). She hopes that the existence of this dormitory provides aspects of comfort and protection for pilgrims, especially the elderly and vulnerable groups, which must be the top priority. “The Hajj dormitory is not just a transit place, but an important part of the worship experience that must be maintained in quality,” she explained. Selly added that the completion of the physical construction of this Hajj dormitory does not mean the end of the state’s responsibility. Rather, it is a continuation of the crucial phase in ensuring operational readiness, service quality, and professional and accountable governance. Therefore, she emphasised that the Ministry of Hajj and Umroh must ensure that this Hajj dormitory is truly ready to be used optimally. Not only from the building side, but also from the aspects of human resources, service systems, and clear operational standards. “Including a comprehensive audit of the readiness of supporting facilities, such as health services, consumption, transportation, and pilgrim management systems. Do not let facilities that have been built with large budgets end up not ready to serve maximally,” she said. Selly also hopes that with the completion of the construction, it can remind the importance of integrating the Indramayu Hajj Dormitory with the national embarkation system, including readiness of transportation access to the airport and inter-regional connectivity. For that, she requests mature planning for the existence of the dormitory in Indramayu, so that it can be utilised optimally. Likewise, transparency in the management and utilisation of the Hajj dormitory must be maintained. “The public has the right to know that every rupiah of the budget used truly impacts the improvement of services to pilgrims,” Selly asserted firmly.
