Indonesian Navy opens free homecoming service to Bangka Belitung using naval vessels
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Navy has opened a new route for free homecoming services during the 2026 Eid holidays, operating from Jakarta to Bangka Belitung using Indonesian Republic naval vessels (KRI).
“There was a request from Bangka Belitung, and we are likely to fulfil this route from Jakarta to Bangka Belitung,” said Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali during a press conference at Kolinlamil Dock in North Jakarta on Wednesday.
Ali explained that with this new route, the Navy will operate free homecoming services to three cities: Semarang, Surabaya, and Bangka Belitung.
Not only during the outbound rush, Ali confirmed that the Navy would also operate return services from the three cities back to Jakarta.
Ali added that the Navy would deploy two landing platform dock (LPD) class naval vessels. However, Ali was unable to specify which KRI would be deployed for this free homecoming service.
Ali further noted that members of the public wishing to bring private vehicles, particularly motorcycles, could participate in this free homecoming programme.
He also stated that the Navy would announce the registration procedures for the free homecoming service through the official TNI AL social media platforms.
