Indonesian Navy deploys five warships and two helicopters to deliver logistics to NTT
The Indonesian Navy has deployed five Republic of Indonesia warships and two helicopters to deliver relief logistics and supplies for earthquake victims in Nusa Tenggara Timur.
The mobilisation of primary weapon systems has been underway since the earthquake struck on 15 August 2026.
“The Indonesian Navy has mobilised five Republic of Indonesia ships, two helicopters and hundreds of personnel to accelerate evacuation and distribution of logistics,” said Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service, First Admiral Tunggul, when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.
Tunggul explained that the five warships moved to the earthquake location in stages. KRI dr. Soeharso-990 headed to Reo Manggarai carrying 217 Marine Corps personnel, a Navy Health Service team, bulldozers, excavators, transport trucks, water tank trucks, field hospital tents, and tens of tonnes of food and clothing aid.
“KRI Hiu-634 headed to Riung Island to distribute aid resulting from synergy with Bank Indonesia, Moro Saka AAL 42 and the Indonesian Association of Surgeons,” Tunggul explained.
In addition, KRI Bung Hatta-370 was placed on standby at Reo Manggarai Pier to assist with logistics distribution in the NTT region.
KRI Teluk Parigi-539 and KRI Teluk Celukan Bawang-532 then sailed from Surabaya to Jakarta to transport more than a dozen BNPB trucks and 22 tonnes of logistics supplies.
The trucks and logistics were subsequently transported to NTT using Indonesian Air Force transport aircraft.
“The Indonesian Navy has also deployed Bell 412 helicopters HU-4206 and HU-4205 to distribute 400 kilograms of staple food on the Labuan Bajo – Ende – Reo – Labuan Bajo route,” he explained.
Tunggul added that Indonesian Navy personnel and equipment remain operational around the earthquake area to support regional recovery.
He said the equipment and hundreds of Indonesian Navy personnel will continue serving at the earthquake site until the situation is conducive.
