Indonesian Navy Completes Joint Exercise with Royal Australian Navy
The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) has completed a joint exercise with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in the Cassowary Exercise, a manifestation of strengthening maritime defence cooperation between Indonesia and Australia. The joint drill took place in Australia from 27 to 31 July 2026. TNI AL deployed 15 personnel led by the Cassowary Exercise Task Force Commander, Colonel (Maritime) Ferry H. Hutagaol. During the exercise, the personnel focused on Minor War Vessel (MWV) operations and maritime law enforcement. These two training materials aimed to sharpen personnel capabilities in operating small vessels and taking action against ships during maritime patrols. The entire series of activities proceeded smoothly and safely, in accordance with applicable safety standards. It is hoped that the exercise will enhance the capabilities of TNI AL personnel and further strengthen relations between Indonesia and Australia. TNI AL personnel are expected to be better prepared to face various dynamics in the strategic environment and to improve readiness in supporting maritime security.
