The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) and Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) collaborated to secure the maritime border between Indonesia and Malaysia by conducting a joint patrol on Thursday. In a press release received in Jakarta, it was explained that the cross-service collaboration was carried out to strengthen Indonesia’s defence in countering threats in the border region from other countries. “The synergy between the TNI AL and TNI AU is an important factor in increasing the effectiveness of surveillance of activities in the Indonesia-Malaysia maritime and air border areas,” said Head of the Navy Information Service (Kadispenal) First Admiral Tunggul when confirmed by ANTARA. Tunggul stated that the patrol involved the KRI Terapang-648 and KRI Golok-688 from the Navy and a Boeing 737 aircraft from the Air Force. The maritime and air patrol proceeded smoothly and safely as all activities were conducted according to established security procedures. He said no suspicious findings were reported during the land and sea patrol. Tunggul confirmed that the collaborative patrols will continue to be conducted to ensure Indonesia’s territorial waters remain safe from foreign threats. “The Indonesian Navy affirms its commitment to continuously strengthening operational readiness and enhancing the capabilities of its soldiers in carrying out joint operations with the Indonesian Air Force,” said Tunggul.
