Indonesian Navy Adopts Electric Vehicles for Operations to Save Fuel
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) is replacing operational vehicles with electric cars and buses to improve fuel efficiency.
This was marked by the inauguration of 20 electric buses for TNI personnel at the Navy Headquarters (Mabes AL) in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Thursday.
“With the use of these electric vehicles, we will no longer be dependent on the limitations of fuel oil (BBM), which, as you all know, is currently very scarce due to the war in the Middle East region,” said the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL), Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali, during a press conference at Mabes AL, Cilangkap.
Ali stated that the electric buses will operate to transport Mabes AL personnel who live far from the Cilangkap Navy Headquarters.
The buses will only operate twice a day, namely for picking up soldiers and dropping off personnel on their way home.
In addition, the TNI AL has also converted official vehicles for echelon officials into electric vehicles.
“Not only buses, but also official cars for principal officials as well as echelon II and echelon III officials from Indonesian Navy members,” said Ali.
Ali assured that the number of electric vehicles for personnel operations is likely to increase according to needs. With this effort, Ali hopes that BBM usage in the TNI AL environment can become even more efficient.
