Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps Chief meets ride-hailing drivers and disabled community, stresses police's closeness to public

Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, Head of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, attended the Polantas Menyapa event in Jepara, Central Java, to strengthen police-public relations, including with ride-hailing drivers and the disabled community.

Agus said the Polantas Menyapa initiative is an implementation of directives from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo for all police personnel to be closer and present among the public.

“The Polantas Menyapa and service programme is aimed at the public, particularly ride-hailing drivers and other groups. Today, disabled community members facilitated by the Jepara Police Chief are also present,” Agus said.

During the event, Agus also called for ride-hailing drivers and the disabled community to continue receiving support from all stakeholders.

“I entrust the ride-hailing drivers and disabled community members who have been facilitated. The state must be present to protect the public, especially regarding safety,” he said.

“Today we are in Jepara to ensure that the police force, particularly in Central Java, has implemented a closer approach to the public. Serve the public with sincerity,” he said.

Beyond meeting the public, Agus and his team inspected the Jepara Police Station’s communal kitchen and tested vehicles designed by the disabled community to support safety and improve mobility for people with disabilities.
