The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumatera Selatan), through the South Ogan Komering Ulu Police Resort, has moved quickly to channel humanitarian aid to communities affected by flash floods and landslides in Manduriang Hamlet, Simpang Sender Utara Village, Buay Pematang Ribu Ranau Tengah Subdistrict, South OKU Regency.

The South OKU Police Chief, AKBP I Made Redi Hartana, directly led the aid distribution activity carried out on Monday, 30 March, at the Communal Kitchen Post of the Manduriang Hamlet Social Service Office.

The presence of police personnel along with Bhayangkari demonstrates the concrete commitment of the Indonesian National Police in providing responsive and humane services amid affected communities during disasters.

Aid distribution was carried out in two main schemes. First, aid was focused on the Communal Kitchen Post as a centre for collective food needs services for the affected residents. The distributed aid included hundreds of kilograms of rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, wheat flour, eggs, and other food requirements.

Second, aid was given directly to seven family heads who experienced the most severe impacts from the disaster. Each family received an integrated aid package consisting of food items, clothing supplies, medicines, and hygiene needs designed to comprehensively meet basic requirements.

“The Indonesian National Police is present not only to maintain security but also to ensure that disaster-affected communities receive proper attention and assistance. We want to make sure that residents do not face this situation alone,” said Made.

In addition to physical aid, the South OKU Police personnel also provided moral support to the victims through direct communication in the field. The presence of leaders and personnel forms part of the initial psychological recovery efforts (trauma healing) for the affected community.

All activities proceeded safely and orderly, with personnel remaining on standby at the disaster site to support ongoing handling processes alongside relevant agencies.

This swift action has a positive impact in maintaining community security and order (kamtibmas), while strengthening public trust in the Indonesian National Police as an institution present in every situation, including during disasters.

The Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, emphasised that the activity is a tangible manifestation of the Indonesian National Police’s dedication to the community.
