The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) headquarters has stated that it will follow up on directives from President Prabowo Subianto regarding the recruitment of the inland Dayak tribe members who wish to become TNI soldiers.

“The TNI will follow up on all instructions and directions from the President,” said TNI Head of Public Relations, Major General Muhammad Nas, when contacted on Sunday (30/8).

Nas stated that, in principle, the TNI provides opportunities for all sons and daughters of the nation to serve. Regarding the mechanism and form of adjustments, he noted that details would be communicated once discussions and finalisations are complete.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto summoned the Commander of the TNI, the chiefs of the armed forces, and several ministers to his residence in Hambalang on Saturday (29/8) evening. During the meeting, one of the topics discussed was the recruitment requirements for the inland Dayak tribe members seeking to join the TNI.

“In that meeting, the President requested updates on several matters, including the adjustment of requirements related to the recruitment of the inland Dayak tribe who wish to become TNI soldiers, the handling of several disasters including the aftermath of the earthquake in Flores, the eruption of Mount Merapi, and the management of forest and land fires in Indonesia, particularly in Kalimantan and Sumatra,” according to a statement from the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat, as quoted from the Seskab RI Instagram account.
