Jakarta – The Indonesian Military Headquarters will investigate the acid attack case against KontraS activist Adrie Yunus.

“The TNI has responded by conducting an internal investigation and I ask the journalists to be patient, as the TNI works professionally and transparently,” said Head of the Military Headquarters Information Centre Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah to journalists in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.

Aulia explained that the TNI’s involvement in investigating this case stems from widespread public opinion that appears to suggest the military was involved in the attack.

This opinion, Aulia continued, is a finding that the TNI must follow up on by participating in uncovering the acid attack case.

“We certainly do not want this to become a developing public opinion,” Aulia said.

Aulia continued that the investigation process into the acid attack on the activist will involve several TNI units. He assured that every investigation process would proceed transparently and professionally, without obscuring existing facts.

When asked how far the TNI’s investigation process has progressed, Aulia was unable to provide detailed information.

“It is still in process. So journalists are asked to be patient,” he explained.
